Rovaniemi: Sauna & Ice Swimming Tour with Dinner and Aurora

1.Sauna & Ice Swimming Tour with Dinner and Aurora

★★★★★★★★★★4.8 · 150 reviews · 4 hours · from $184Our pick

Nordic Adventures takes you from central Rovaniemi to a remote Arctic lake for a wood-fired Finnish sauna, optional ice swimming or snow cooling, and a fire-cooked salmon dinner in a cottage. English-speaking guides such as Pedro, Mattia, Victor, and Tanja have led the outing. Evening departures run from late October to mid-March for a chance at auroras.

“This is one of the first things we did after we arrived in Rovaniemi and set us off to a great start. Our guide Pedro was kind and friendly, explained everything about how to use the sauna and how to go about dipping in the ice lake if we wanted to. Felt so energized and refreshed after going in the ice-cold water, definitely want to do it again. The lunch afterward was some of the best food we had whilst in Finland, definitely the best salmon. The sun came out halfway through our experience and the already beautiful view of the lake got even more beautiful.”

We really enjoyed the well organized activity with a lot of new information and knowledge about nature (plants, trees, vegetation and wildlife). We did the snowshoe walk at the first day of our trip. This helped us to see and understand a lot more about the nature/environment which we visited the days after the snowshoe walk. It once again created more awareness about the consequences of climate change as well.”

“Magical trip. Staff from point of collection to safari were both knowledgeable, professional and friendly. The trail was stunning. We were in a small group so didn’t get lost at the back of the crowd and could hear everything said. Trail was beautiful. Only thing I would suggest is to book before 1pm if you want good photos as it starts to get dark quick, and especially if your are bringing children under 8 to wrap them up extra warm as you are sat still for an hour and it gets bitterly cold by the end of it. I admit it was expensive but it was an experience of a…”
